Privacy Policy
Effective October 8, 2026
Tabata works without an account. Your workouts, body details and Apple Health data stay on your iPhone. We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app, and we never sell your data or show ads.
This policy covers the Tabata: HIIT Interval Timer app for iPhone and this website. “We” means the developer, Betül Üsküdar.
Stored only on your device
The following stays on your iPhone and is not sent to us or to any service provider:
- Workout history, saved timer setups and achievements
- Settings, daily goal and reminder time
- The weight and date of birth you enter during setup
- Anything read from Apple Health
Daily reminders are scheduled locally by iOS. No server sends them.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Tabata asks for read access to steps, walking and running distance, heart rate, active energy and workouts. It uses them only to show your activity next to your sessions. Tabata does not write to Apple Health. Health data is processed on your device. It is never sent to us or to any third party, and never used for analytics, advertising or tracking. You can change access at any time in the Health app.
Anonymous app identifier
The first time you open Tabata, Firebase Authentication creates a random anonymous user ID. We use it to restore your subscription and to group analytics events from the same install. It is not tied to your name, email address or Apple Account.
Usage analytics
To understand which features help people train, Tabata sends usage events to Google Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel. Events include:
- Screens viewed and buttons tapped
- Workouts started and finished, with timer type, rounds and duration
- Settings changes and permission prompt results
- Your answers to the setup questions about workout type, weekly frequency and gender
- Subscription screen views and purchase outcomes
These services also receive standard technical data such as device model, iOS version, app version, language, country and time zone. Events are linked to the anonymous app identifier, not to your identity.
Tracking permission
iOS asks whether Tabata may track you. If you allow it, Firebase Analytics may access your device’s advertising identifier to measure app performance. If you decline, it is not accessed. Your choice does not change any feature. You can change it anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Tabata contains no ads and does not sell data to advertisers or data brokers.
Subscriptions
Apple processes all purchases. We never see your payment details. RevenueCat validates purchases and unlocks Pro. It receives your purchase history, the anonymous app identifier and basic device data.
App configuration
Firebase Remote Config delivers settings such as the minimum supported app version. To do that, it receives technical data such as app version, iOS version, language, country and time zone.
Service providers
- Google Firebase for Authentication, Analytics and Remote Config
- Mixpanel for product analytics
- RevenueCat for subscription management
- Apple for payments, Apple Health and notifications
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy and may store it outside your country.
Retention and your choices
- Delete your workout history in Profile → Workout Settings → Clear Workout History.
- Deleting the app removes all data stored on your device.
- Turn off tracking, notifications or Apple Health access in iOS Settings.
- To access or delete analytics or subscription records, email us. We will respond within 30 days.
Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Subscription records are kept as long as needed for purchases and legal obligations.
Children
Tabata is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
